Newborn session

Here's a sneak peak at a few photos I caught today during a newborn photo session with Tyler Derick Talsma. Newborns are so much fun (and easy) to photograph..........I could spend my day capturing moments like these! Thanks to the Talsma's for letting me capture these images (and what a fun nursery this little guy has :)

Global warming (or freezing?)

Brrrrrrrrr.........it's been a chilly one today! Last night the snow began falling as our dinner guests (the Widener's) braved the elements to head home for the evening. Tim promptly jumped out of bed to check the local cancellations this am. Many area churches were indeed cancelled, but ours wasn't on the list - after calling the prayer line we learned our church WAS cancelled. So, back to bed for the two of us! All three boys let us get a little extra shut-eye and didn't head into our room until 9ish! This was the first time the boys found us both in bed in a LONG time (usually they don't awake until Tim's left for work and the weekends we're usually up with Jackson before they're awake) - strange feeling. It was nice, though - Lucas surprised me with a magna doodle valentine (smiley face and heart drawn)- have I mentioned how sweet boys can be?!! Tim fixed a delicious breakfast and we spent the day relaxing as a family. I think the best part of this "snow day" is the fact that I now have my Sunday School lesson done for next week :) We also had a "fog delay" this past Tuesday, so my Bible study was cancelled (and now my Bible lesson is done for this Tuesday as well :) - DOUBLE BONUS!!! The excitement doesn't stop here - I chose today to ATTEMPT shovelling snow for the first time in years (I was pregnant the past winter so Tim wouldn't let me; and we are usually plowed by Tim's father - a huge THANK-YOU to him - hopefully he's enjoying tropical temps on his cruise right now :) This attempt was short-lived as I was the only foolish neighbor in sight to actually face the elements - I lasted about 10 minutes before promptly marching inside to thaw. I'll try again next year :) Hope you are all warm and well! Enjoy these winter days :)

Mission Accomplished!

Jackson has finally mastered eating baby food!!! We've been working with him on this off and on for the past 2 months. He began trying baby cereal at 6mths (the same time he was diagnosed with a double ear infection - his first one). This didn't go too well as he didn't like taking an antibiotic and had so much drainage from the ear infections down the back of his throat (would you like food on top of all that?). So, we backed off the solids for a bit and then tried once the antibiotic was done - well, no success as he developed a cold (with extra phlegm). This then developed into another single ear infection and just before turning 8mths old he had another double ear infection. We decided to skip the baby cereal and head straight for the fruits/veggies stage 1. Needless to say, he's a HUGE fan of the orange veggies so far!!! He's actually doing well keeping them down and prefers veggies over fruits (is this MY child?). Any of you remember the picture of Lucas and the carrots at Jackson's age? (read: pile of ABC (already been chewed) carrots lying next to Lucas in the crib). Thank goodness Jackson's stay in his belly (and diaper for the most part :)

I apologize in my lack of posting - life just gets busy and time goes by...........here are a few recent pix of happenings in the Meyers' household. Enjoy!

Freebies!!!

Okay, so there's no such thing as "free" anything, right? Well, not so in this technological web-posting age. I was looking for some free patterns (as I like to sew in my spare time - well, when I make time) and stumbled across a woman's page that details how to make your own Jibbitz (pricey little charms kids display on their crocs). This looks super easy even for the "uncrafty" person. Of course I found this site AFTER purchasing a Jibbitz for each of my older boys. Next time I'm at the fabric store I will have to stock up on these supplies :) You can visit this site by scrolling down my page under "Sites to see" and click on the "Sewing Patterns" link. ENJOY!!!

and here's the page for the jibbitz (for some reason i had issues making it a link - instead you can copy and paste it into your browser)
